With two Hard Drives in a RAID array using mode 0 (Striping) you will benefit from higher performance as both Hard Drives share the workload. Data is written alternately across both Hard Drives so that during the read process each Hard Drive has only to retrieve half of the required data which means that you almost double the performance.

However, because data parity depends on the integrity of both Hard Drives if one should fail the whole array will fail and the data will be lost. For this reason it is recommended to keep a backup of the array on one of the other storage drives.
